Projects in the research area biogas

Thirteen projects in four fields of action are funded in the Research Area Biogas. Action field 1 is engaged in the production and provision of alternative substrates (e.g. use of residues and wastes as well as sewage sludge). Action field 2 involves the development of new and optimized technologies for the conversion of biomass (e.g. power to gas concepts, biogas plant optimization). In action field 3 new strategies for usage of the conversion products (e.g. storage, material use) will be developed. Action field 4 deals with the economic, ecological, ethical and social implications of biogas production. Within a second call for projects in the accompanying social sciences and ecological research two additional projects deal with the cross-cutting issues of the bioeconomy.
