In the microalgae research network, a total of eight subprojects are being researched in two fields of action. Action field 1 deals with food and feed production from microalgae as well as the associated use and safety of the nutrients. Research is also being conducted into the development of new markets and the potential of algae biomass. The two projects on accompanying research deal with the environmental impact of the bioeconomy and the biomass requirements for a sustainable bioeconomy in Baden-Württemberg.
